History of Grama Panchayat

                            Vallikode Grama Panchayat is a Grama Panchayat under Konni Block in Kozhenchery Taluk of Pathanamthitta District. The total number of wards in the Panchayat with an area of ​​18.86 sq. km is 16. A Village Union was established in Vallikode Village, which was previously part of Kunnathur Taluk, in 1951. The president of the seven-member committee was the late Kainikkara Illath D. Damodaran Potty. In 1963, Vallikode Panchayat was divided into 9 wards and the late CK Shashankan Nair took office as the president of its first administrative committee. This administrative committee was able to continue in power till 1979. The headquarters of the then Panchayat was ‘Mayal’. During that time, a Primary Health Center was established in the then 7th ward. It was during this administration that a two-storey building was constructed at Puthenchantha in Vallikode by taking a loan from the Rural Development Board and the Panchayat headquarters was shifted there. When the Panchayats were classified according to income, Vallikode Panchayat was upgraded to special grade. During this time, land has been found for 4 lakh house colonies in the Panchayat area and houses have been constructed.
